2nd Day: Game Drive in Ngorongoro Crater

Start the day with the unique opportunity to visit a Maasai village, a bastion of traditional African culture. The Maasai people inhabit regions teeming with lions and elephants, yet they possess an innate knowledge of preserving their territory, including the protection of their herds of goats and cows, all in harmony with nature’s principles. During this visit, the Maasai will share insights into their daily lives and offer a window into their time-honored way of existence. Journey further to the Ngorongoro Crater Rim and check-in at the lodge and enjoy a delicious lunch and after lunch we will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife. This is elephant country, so keep your eyes peeled. By the side of the nearby swampland is what is sometimes called the ‘elephant graveyard’ as the mighty male tuskers at the end of their lives come to chew on the soft, swampland grasses once their teeth have failed them and the crater has one of the highest wildlife densities on earth with hyenas, leopard, antelopes, wildebeest, zebra, and rhino. We will spend a memorable afternoon ensconced in the crater, exploring its breadth and depth. Late afternoon we will drive back to the lodge for a luscious meal at this exceptional lodge and overnight.

3rd Day: Serengeti National Park – Inclusive Big Game Safari (Lobo Area)

The Serengeti National Park is our next destination, including a call at Olduvai Gorge, where for more than fifty years the Leakey family has been uncovering fossils of our human ancestors and of animal life, laboriously peeling away the layers of mystery attached to the history of the continent. Under the direction of Louis and Mary Leakey, material was unearthed dating back over two million years.

After the visit, we head to the Seronera area of Serengeti, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. We enjoy a game drive en-route to the lodge and a thousand elephants find their space here, alongside the evocative collection of big cats. Lions chase Thomson’s gazelle: cheetahs hide in the high grass while sharp eyes pick out leopards as they lounge in the trees. It’s a park full of surprises and another opportunity to encounter the thrills of an African safari.
